    • Kid’s classes are for children 10 years and older (ages 8+ are currently being considered as long as we can maintain a productive and educational experience for all participants).

    • Family classes are for one adult 21+ and children 5 years and older.

    • Young Adult classes are for individuals 13 years and older.

    • Adult classes are for individuals 21 and older.

We appreciate you respecting these age ranges so each attendee can get the most of out the experience!

  • We totally understand the question — we hear often that a child is “very mature,” “has been cooking forever,” or would be “bored” in a family class. That said, our adult classes are strictly 18+, and we’re not able to make exceptions.

    Here’s why:

    • Adult experience & atmosphere‍ ‍

Adult classes are designed as a relaxed, social experience for grown-ups. We serve beer and wine, use adult humor and conversation, and many guests choose these classes specifically because they are kid-free.

    • Respect for other guests‍ ‍

Our adult guests expect to cook alongside other adults. Even one underage participant noticeably changes the dynamic, and we want every guest to feel comfortable and get the experience they signed up for.

    • Safety & liability‍ ‍

Adult classes move quickly, involve sharp tools, hot surfaces, alcohol service, and instruction geared toward adults. For everyone’s safety and for insurance reasons, we keep clear age boundaries.

    • Intentional alternatives‍

This is exactly why we offer family classes that are adult + minor pair classes — they’re thoughtfully designed to be engaging, hands-on, and fun without watering down the experience.

As a small business, consistency matters, and we’ve learned that bending this rule rarely serves anyone well — including the child. We truly appreciate your understanding and are happy to help you find the class format that will be the best fit for your family.

If you’re interested in a private event or want help choosing the right class, feel free to reach out at letscook@thedirtyapron.com— we’d love to help!

  • Since alcohol is served in the adult classes, teens should register for the kid’s classes for now. Keep an eye out for Young Adult specific pop-ups for classes geared specifically for this age group that teaches more advanced skills and challenges these young chefs!

  • Give us a call at 907.297.8425 to add more than one child under a family class booking.

  • You know your restrictions best! We try hard to offer a variety of classes that accommodate restrictions such a gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian, and vegan classes. If you have additional questions, give us a call at 907.297.8425 to talk in detail.

  • While our classes/event purchases are nonrefundable, we are generally happy to give a credit for a future event when we can fill your spot. If you need to cancel, the best option is to transfer your tickets to someone you know otherwise, we will reach out to our community. If we get any takers, we can then issue you a rebooking code (good for 30 days). The chances of finding a replacement are higher with as much advance notice as possible, so please let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel. Cancellations made less than 48 hours prior to a scheduled class are not eligible for a refund or rescheduling code regardless of the reason.

  • Absolutely! Parties are treated as special events. All the details can be found on our Private Events page

  • Not a thing besides your ID if you are attending an adult class and plan on consuming alcohol!

  • Wear comfortable but fitted clothing, hair tied back, and closed toed shoes (please no high heels). Seasoning the food is important, but not in this way!

  • Yes-ish! Most classes are set up in a way that you are cooking for about 1.5-2 hours before you sit down to enjoy your meal. If you’re starving, that could be rough.

We recommend you have a snack before class so you can be hungry by meal time but not HANGRY.

Along those same food-supply lines….Some times classes have leftovers. That is never a guarantee; Just a nice surprise on occasion.

  • If you are attending an adult class, each booking includes two tickets for wine or beer. Additional drinks can be purchased.

  • For all private events at our cooking store, we include a 20% gratuity to ensure fair and consistent compensation for our staff. These events often involve additional coordination, setup, personalized service, and cleanup—far beyond what’s typical during a regular class or store visit.
The gratuity goes directly to the team members who help create a smooth, enjoyable, and memorable experience for you and your guests, both in front of and behind the scenes.
We truly appreciate your understanding and support.

  • We are flattered you love the space as much as we do! Unfortunately we are not open for standalone rentals for the public or chefs. We appreciate your understanding.

  • Here at The Dirty Apron we work with the most amazing chefs, we are so grateful! However, they are people and sometimes life emergencies and illness must pull them away from their commitment to a class. If that happens we do our best to find a replacement (still awesome) but sometimes we have to cancel or reschedule.

Schedule changes are a bummer (for us too), we do everything we can to avoid them. When they happen we like to go with the flow. We will always provide you with the best customer service to get you taken care of.

We appreciate your continued support and understanding!

  • In-Store credit or exchange ONLY within 7 days of purchase with receipt and tags.

  • You may have visited our pizza truck The Pizza Box. Our two businesses share a point of sale system and so the charge comes up as The Dirty Apron on your credit card statement. We have this posted on our menus at The Pizza Box but we totally understand you were probably focused on getting your really delicious pizza and may have missed that detail.

If you did not visit The Dirty Apron and/or The Pizza Box and you received a charge from The Dirty Apron, that’s not awesome and we recommend that you contact your card company.
